Smallpox (Chickenpox-Varicella Zooter) Disease in Children

A week ago my daughter exposed to smallpox. Once in check by a doctor in the detection of chickenpox disease. Many of the questions that sometimes we want to ask when our own children exposed to Smallpox disease. In Indonesia, smallpox is known as chicken pox, while overseas known as chicken-pox or Varicella zoster.

Varicella is contagious infectious disease caused by Varicella zoster virus, characterized by a peculiar eruption on the skin. In general, attacking children, but can also occur in adults who have never been exposed before.
Chickenpox can be prevented by administering zoster immune globulin (zig), obtained from the serum of patients who experienced healing of herpes zoster, or varicella - zoster immune globulin (VZIG), obtained from plasma pools containing high titers of specific antibodies. This acquired immunity can survive to 10 years.

If a person previously infected and he has never had chicken pox, he will be exposed to chicken pox once, and not directly herpes zoster. Symptoms are also not as good as herpes zoster. However, when he was an adult, the virus suddenly attacked as herpes zoster with more severe symptoms.

Attacks could occur at one or several neural areas at once. From there the virus can re-produce symptoms in the form of shingles. Smallpox is a further episode of herpes zoster who sought not to happen. If these signs already occurred, the skin is exposed to the slightest touch can cause pain. The number of former patients who continue to herpes zoster pain post herpetic approximately 10-15% of the population. Above 50 years the chances to 40%, over 60 years by 50%, and over 80 years to 80% of the population.

Patients with herpes zoster who are exposed to young severe attacks, for example up to the eyes, the more likely to develop post herpetic pain. Nerve damage caused by herpes zoster is very difficult to rectify. However, each patient also has its own different treatment depending on compatibility.
