Child Care Centers Will Get Rated in Southside

Some area child care centers are going under the microscope to get rated on their business.

"Basically it is a way to gage the quality of child care offered at the centers," said Russell Carter, public engagement coordinator for Smart Beginnings.

That's the idea behind the new rating system of childcare centers coming to Danville and Pittsylvania County.

"I think the rating will help a lot of centers and will bring a lot of awareness to parents that this center is meeting a basic criteria instead of just having a basic license," said Paul McKenna, owner of Children's First Learning Center.

The ratings will be posted on their website or can be found within the participating child care centers.
